0Weeks0Days0Hours0MinutesIt’s Race Day!

Join us on Saturday, December 5 at 9 a.m., for the Health Betterment Initiative 5K 10K Run in the heart of historic Georgetown, just steps from the Nation’s Capital. Whether you’re a seasoned runner aiming for a personal best or a walker looking to support a meaningful cause, this flat and scenic course along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path offers an enjoyable experience for participants of all ages and abilities. Walkers and strollers are welcome.

More than a run, this event is an opportunity to make a difference. Proceeds support HBI’s mission to eliminate barriers to care for underserved communities through culturally appropriate health education, screenings, resource navigation, and ongoing support.

Every step you take helps create healthier communities. Join us and be part of the movement toward better health for all.

Why I Run

I think about our clients in the shelters.

Someone could have hepatitis C , and they do ,but their first priority isn’t a clinic appointment. It’s finding a safe place to sleep tonight. It’s getting a meal. It’s navigating the next barrier standing between them and simply getting through the day.
I run for the possibility to keep our Incentive to Treatment Program alive. Twenty dollars doesn’t sound like much , I know that. But for many of our clients, it covers two meals. It’s the difference between showing up for their health and not being able to.

We can’t remove every barrier. But we can make the path a little easier. That’s why I run.
