Dr. Benson Yu


Dr. Benson Yu graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1990 and finished his internal medicine residence training from George Washington University Hospital in 1993. He has over 20 years of clinical practices, with the last 12 years practicing solo in his Fairfax office. He is actively teaching and training medical students from UVA, Georgetown, and George Washington University medical schools.

Dr. Yu has been in charge of Virginia community health fairs from ACAP (Association of Chinese American Physicians) for the past six years, working closely with HBI-DC to organize senior health fairs for the Silver Light Senior Association, CCAVA for health fairs, and hepatitis B screenings.

In 2013, Dr. Yu volunteers to testify for Delegate Keam’s Hepatitis B bill in the Virginia House of Delegates, which passed unanimously. Dr. Yu has been an active player in screening for hepatitis B, giving out vaccines for the uninsured in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Health’s Vaccines for Kids Program, as well as monitoring and treating those who are infected with the hepatitis B virus. Dr. Yu has screened over 500 patients and given hundreds of hepatitis B vaccines.

HBI-DC is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our organization’s mission is to mobilize communities to prevent liver diseases caused by viral hepatitis among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, African immigrants, and other high-risk groups.
